Temporary employees are an important part of the labour force and are called upon daily to assist with the smooth functioning of many businesses.  It is the efforts and dedication of our temporaries that make us a success.

Points to Keep in Mind While on Assignment

  • GILLESPIE Personnel Ltd. is your employer.  Any concerns with respect to pay dates, salary, absence, holidays, employment records, etc. should all be directed to us.
  • If you are unable to report to work or are going to be late please call GILLESPIE Personnel Ltd. as soon as possible.  We will contact the client to make the necessary arrangements.  We have an after hours answering service to handle these calls 24 hours a day seven days a week.  Please be sure to call 250-1750.
  • When you commit to an assignment it is important that you are ready, willing and capable of starting and completing the assignment.  Be respectful of the hours you are required to work, adjusting the time may not be appropriate.
  • Be aware of the dress code in place.  Remember that a professional appearance will leave a lasting impression.
  • Limit your personal calls while on the job.
  • While on the job do not take advantage of Internet and e-mail privileges.  Use of these services is monitored and is not confidential.
  • Keeping you working is our top priority, but it is up to you to show enthusiasm, interest and initiative while on assignment.  These characteristics reflect call backs for you.
  • Once you have completed an assignment it is always appreciated if a description of the work you did is left for the person returning.  This ensures that they know what, where and how things were done.
  • It is important that we know your availability for work.  Please check in weekly to let us know your status.

Completing Your Timecard

  • It is important that you use your employee number on all time cards.  If you forget or are unsure of your employee number please give us a call.  This number will be assigned to you when you receive your first pay cheque.
  • Fill out the necessary information on the timecard and keep track of the hours that you work.  Time worked is based on 15 minute intervals, and should be rounded up or down accordingly, please do not use military time.  Keep in mind that if you are to start work at 8:00, just because you get there early does not mean you get paid for it.  You are paid for the time that the client has requested you to work.
  • Your supervisor should sign your time card at the end of each week to verify the hours worked.
  • There are 4 copies to the time card:  the gold copy is for your records, the pink is to be left with your supervisor and the white and yellow copies are to be sent in to GILLESPIE Personnel Ltd.
  • A copy of the time card(s) must be received on the cut off date to be put through for payroll.  A faxed copy of the time card will be accepted on the cut off date, but the original timecards must be received for your pay cheque to be released.
  • We have direct deposit, pick up or mailing options available for your cheque delivery.
  • When there is a statutory holiday please print STAT across the date on your time card and we will determine if you qualify for the holiday pay and adjust your hours accordingly.  4% holiday pay is added on to each pay cheque automatically.
